Happy New Year!

A new day, a new year, a new beginning!

What will you resolve to do with your life this year?

That can seem like a daunting task to achieve, so I like the idea of “living in the moment”.  I believe a good place to start is slow…by enjoying your minutes, your hours and your days, and decide how you will take charge of what you “have to”, “need to” and “want to” do to fill your cup everyday!  When all three of these line up I totally feel energized!

I enjoy my daily walks with my dog that are sometimes only minutes and can often lead to hours.  This is something I “have to” do because my dog needs to get out.  I also “need to” do it to get my fresh air and exercise, and once I’m out, I really “want to” be out with my dog (who makes me smile every day).

When I went home for the holidays, I was reenergized not only by seeing my family, but also by the fresh, clean, crisp and yes frigid Ottawa temperatures!  I am a January baby, so I appreciate the cold and get totally energized from each deep breath I take, as the cold air freezes my nose hairs and I hear the squeak of the snow crunching below my feet!  Even when I sometimes listen to music or a podcast during these walks, I always take a few moments to stop and be quiet in the stillness of the cold winter air, to appreciate the energy that fills my body that I know will carry me through the rest of the day.

As for resolutions, I do not plan on making any for myself for this year.  Instead, I plan to take time each day to “live in the moment” with something that will energize me for the rest of my day!

How will you “live in the moment” this year?
